SARAH STOUT
Member-at-Large
Sarah Stout was born into a musical family. Her mother, Diane Heder Beesley, sang professionally with Utah Opera. Her great-grandfather Ebenezer Beesley started Beesley Music Store in SLC, UT, back in 1903. For almost a century, it was the place to find the latest sheet music, instruments, and music lessons. Her great-grandmother was one of the first to debut "Solveigs Song" by Edvard Grieg in Oslo, Norway, circa 1875.
At a young age, Sarah pursued music, earning many awards, including a Superior Rating in the National Federation Festivals Junior Division in both vocal solo and piano, and a NATS Vocal Superior Rating. She studied under Diana Walker Neve and Rebecca B. Glade, with piano instruction from Joyce Brown and Kay Prier.
Sarah has served as a church music and choir director. She has participated in various solos and duets throughout the community over the years, such as Lieto Choir (St George, UT, Director Norman Lister), Savior of the World Performance Missionary, SLC 2002 Paralympics Winter Games Opening Ceremony, weddings, dinner parties, expos, and National Anthem for local schools. She was a soloist in Messiah at the Heritage Center Theatre in Cedar City, UT, with Xun Sun as Music Director/Conductor, the Orchestra of Southern Utah, and the Southern Utah Chorale.
Sarah has been praised as having a rich mezzo voice and has participated in choirs and operas with the University of Utah, Utah State University, and Southern Utah University. She studied under Dr. Lawrence Johnson at SUU. She was offered a vocal scholarship at the U of U. Although she chose a nursing career, music remains an integral part of her life.
