October 2026:  Great American Songbook: America 250

  • WHERE:  Performing Arts Campus; 905 S Main Street St George, UT 84770 

  • WHEN:  October 23 at 7:30 PM, October 24 at 2 PM

  • WHAT:  “Great American Songbook: America 250” celebrates our nation’s 250th anniversary through a vibrant program of iconic American music. The concert features selections from the Great American Songbook by legendary composers such as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin, alongside works by American opera composers that highlight the richness of the country’s classical vocal tradition. An engaging emcee will guide the audience through the evening, offering both context and comedic moments to add humor and personality to the program. All performances are accompanied by piano, creating an intimate and focused musical experience. Projected artwork enhances each selection, offering a visual reflection of America’s history, culture, and artistic legacy.  

February 2027: Valentine's Concert

  • WHERE: St. George Tabernacle; 18 S Main St, St. George, UT 84770

  • WHEN: February 6, 2027; 7-8 PM

  • WHAT:  “Valentine’s Concert” is a romantic program featuring a rich selection of operatic arias, madrigals, and quartets centered on themes of love, renewal, and emotional connection. The concert showcases a wide variety of accompaniment styles and ensemble arrangements, creating contrast and depth throughout the evening. From intimate vocal duets to fuller ensemble moments, each piece highlights the beauty and complexity of love in its many forms. The program blends historical and operatic traditions, offering audiences both lyrical storytelling and expressive musical artistry. This Valentine’s celebration invites listeners into an elegant and heartfelt exploration of love and rebirth through music.  

March 2027: Landscapes in Music, directed by Zephyr Olson

  • WHERE: Performing Arts Campus; 905 S Main Street St George, UT 84770 

  • WHEN: March 19, 2026 at 7:30 pm, March 20, 2026 2 pm

  • WHAT:   “Landscapes in Music” is an immersive concert experience that blends sound and visuals to create a richly layered artistic journey. The program features classical repertoire, including opera arias, scenes, and art songs, performed with expressive depth and artistry. A variety of heightened sensory projections enhances each piece, drawing the audience deeper into the emotional landscape of the music. Live artists, dancers, and singers collaborate onstage, bringing movement and storytelling to every performance. Supported by instrumental accompaniment, the concert offers a dynamic and engaging exploration of music as a living, multidimensional experience.

OUTREACH CONCERTS

November 2026:  Great American Songbook: America 250

  • WHERE: Southern Utah Veterans Home

  • WHEN: Nov 7th @ 10 am

  • WHAT: Our “Great American Songbook: America 250” outreach performance celebrates our nation’s 250th anniversary through a warm program of beloved American music, which we will present at a local senior home. Featuring classics by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Irving Berlin alongside selections from American opera, the concert highlights the richness of our musical heritage. A friendly emcee, piano accompaniment, and visuals create an engaging experience designed to spark memories and bring joy to residents.

February 2027: Opera Valentines

  • WHERE:  Various locations around town

  • WHEN:  early February

  • WHAT:   “Opera Valentines” is a unique and intimate musical experience where community members can purchase an Opera Valentine for someone special in their lives. A professional singer will personally travel to the recipient and perform one to two operatic arias or art songs as a heartfelt holiday gift. Each performance is designed to bring the beauty of live opera directly into a personal setting, creating a memorable and meaningful moment. This one-of-a-kind offering combines artistry, surprise, and connection to celebrate love through music.

March/April 2027: Landscapes in Music outreach

  • WHAT: Our “Landscapes in Music” outreach performance brings an immersive blend of sound and visuals to a local senior home, creating a rich and engaging artistic experience. Featuring classical repertoire including opera arias, scenes, and art songs. With instrumental accompaniment and dynamic storytelling, the concert is designed to spark imagination, evoke emotion, and provide a memorable experience for residents.

MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION

December 2026:  A Christmas Oratorio, music arranged by Dr. Rhea Miller and directed by Celeste Teal Larkin (In English)

  • WHERE: Utah Tech Eccles Fine Arts Center, Concert Hall

  • WHEN: TBD in mid-July

  • WHAT: Celebrate the Christmas season with a semi-staged concert showcasing the beauty and power of operatic and classical singing. Framed by Ralph Vaughan Williams' "On Christmas Night" and "Fantasia on Christmas Carols", the performance follows a church congregation as they gather to present their annual Christmas pageant. Featuring selections from J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël, and Hector Berlioz's L'Enfance du Christ, the program tells the story of Christ's birth through the Flight into Egypt with soaring solo arias, rich choral writing, and expressive ensembles. Each principal artist is featured in a solo role, highlighting the artistry of classically trained voices while offering audiences a moving and accessible celebration of the Christmas season.

SCHOOL OUTREACH

Jan/Feb 2027:  Elixir of Love by Gaetano Donizetti (in English), directed by Dr. Rhea Miller

  • WHERE: Washington County Schools

  • WHEN: January/February 2027

  • WHAT: St. George Opera is pleased to offer a school outreach performance of Elixir of Love, presented in a shortened, student-friendly format of approximately 35–40 minutes. This engaging adaptation introduces students to opera through live performance, storytelling, and accessible music. The outreach production features a small professional cast, including Adina (soprano), Gianetta (soprano), Nemorino (tenor), Sergeant Belcore (baritone), and Dr. Dulcamara (bass). This condensed version preserves the humor, heart, and musical beauty of the original opera while making it accessible for K–12 audiences.

2026-2027 SEASON COMPENSATION

If you are selected to perform for the Mainstage, School Outreach, or Concert Series, there will be small stipends issued according to contracts.

Please note this is the ONLY audition that St. George Opera will hold for the whole season. All roles and concert series singers will be cast from this single audition.

IN PERSON AUDITIONS

Complete your Google Audition Form for the St. George Opera In-Person Season Auditions no later than August 19th at 5:00PM.

When: Friday, August 21, 2026 at 5:00 PM-8:00 PM

 

Location: Eccles Concert Hall at Utah Tech University

 

Repertoire Requirements: 1-2 Classical songs or arias 

(To be considered for a mainstage role or school outreach opera role, one song must be from an opera or operetta).

 

Accompaniment: The performer can bring their own accompanist or use a piano backing track.  (Blue Tooth Speaker will be provided by the audition panel.)
